THE FDA'S RISK EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT (REMS) PROGRAM ENSURES THE SAFE USE OF HIGH-RISK MEDICATIONS BUT CURRENTLY RELIES ON MANUAL DATA ENTRY, WHICH BURDENS PATIENTS, PRESCRIBERS, AND PHARMACISTS, LEADING TO DELAYS IN ACCESSING CRITICAL MEDICATIONS. THE CODEX INITIATIVE, PART OF HL7 FHIR ACCELERATOR, AIMS TO CREATE AN INTEROPERABLE REMS ECOSYSTEM THAT STREAMLINES THESE PROCESSES. MITRE INTENDS TO PARTNER WITH INVARYANT TO IMPLEMENT A FHIR-BASED USE CASE UNDER CODEX, FOCUSING ON REDUCING REMS-RELATED ADMINISTRATIVE BURDENS. INVARYANT'S ROLE WILL INCLUDE COORDINATING THE INTEGRATION USE CASE, TESTING STANDARDS IN REAL-WORLD SETTINGS, AND SUPPORTING POST-STUDY ACTIVITIES, WITH THE GOAL OF UPDATING THE HL7 IMPLEMENTATION GUIDE BY MAY 2025.
