THIS OBJECTIVE INCLUDES CONCEIVING AND ANALYZING LEP FILTER APPROACHES, REFINING MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUES AND DEVELOPING TEST PROTOCOLS FOR VALIDATION. TESTING WILL ASSESS COMPLIANCE WITH REQUIREMENTS FOR PROTECTION AS WELL AS OPTICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND BALLISTIC PERFORMANCE. 2) THE SUBCONTRACTOR SHALL ASSIST IN THE DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF PROTOTYPE DEVICES IN SPECTACLE, GOGGLE AND VISOR FORMATS UTILIZING EXISTING MOLD TOOLS AND MATERIAL SETS OR PROPOSE NEW CAPABILITIES AS NEEDED. THE DEVICES SHALL BE TESTED USING SUITABLE TEST PROCEDURES. 3) THE SUBCONTRACTOR SHALL INVESTIGATE METHODS OF INTEGRATING A THIN GLASS SUBSTRATE INTO RELEVANT LEP FORM FACTORS WITH A FOCUS ON MAINTAINING OPTICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE. IMPROVEMENTS TO THE LAMINATION AND EDGING PHASES OF THE ASSEMBLIES SHALL ALSO BE EXPLORED. THE THIN GLASS WILL BE PROVIDED FROM A THIRD PARTY. 4) THE SUBCONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPORT ASSESSMENTS ON THE SUITABILITY OF THE VARIOUS TECHNOLOGY OPTIONS FOR TRANSITION TO A FOLLOW-ON ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING DEVELOPMENT (EMD) PROGRAM.
